We're headed to Boston!

Hi everyone!

I know it has been a long time since we did our fundraiser for Mariah, and a lot has happened in that time.

We finally made it to see the experts at Cincy Children's (our first trip was in April 2015) and made 3 trips in about a year to monitor her progress.

During our last visit in March of 2016, we decided (together with our GI doctor and our surgeon) that the major surgery we hoped to avoid was necessary.

At that time, we also learned that our surgeon was moving from Cincy to Boston Children's. This meant that we could wait until Dr. Dickie arrived in Boston to have the surgery, and our travel time would be cut in half!

It's been a long almost 6 months waiting for our date in Boston, but last Friday we received the call that Mariah's surgery has been scheduled for Monday, August 8th. We'll travel to Boston on Sat, she'll be admitted on Sun for bowel prep, and on Mon she'll have the surgery.

The surgery should be able to be performed laparoscopically, and Mariah will have between 8-12" of her intestine removed. Our hope is that after she recovers, all her problems will be over!

The surgery takes a few hours and then we'll stay in the hospital for about a week while she recovers and they make sure everything is working the way it should.

Sorry for the long update, but as we near the final goal of the journey we started nearly two years ago, we wanted everyone to know what is happening.

None of this would have been possible without the support of family, friends & strangers who donated when we needed to get our little lady to the best doctors available. I cannot imagine where we would be right now had we not been able to get her to Cincinnati.

Much love and many, many thanks~
