Stage 4- Post Op appointment

We headed back to Atlanta for our post-op appointment this morning.  The nurse removed the bandages and took out the stitches.  The worst part was taking the tape off because it was stuck to her hair. And she has LOTS of hair and is extremely tender-headed.  She screamed.  LOUDLY! (think horror flick) If there were any patients in the waiting room, I'm pretty sure they left.

She was a real trooper and was treated with hot chocolate and ice cream.  Nothing like seeing your baby cry, to make you want to give them the world!

Overall, things are healing nicely.  As usual, the swelling will need to go down and it will be a while before we really know what the ear will look like.  Dr. Jones re-bandaged the microtia ear, but left the other one undone.  He also took off the skin graft bandage, which means she can take a bath now!! No more sponge bathing. Yippee!  Although that mat of hair/dread-locks looks ferocious.  Luckily, she has already asked daddy to be the one to wash her hair first. (Score one for mommy!)

We will be able to take off these final bandages in three days.

Thank you for the loving thoughts and prayers. We are so relieved to have this final one behind us.
