Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jigg!!

Audrey has come home!!

Sunday 6/29/14:  Audrey made such wonderful progress this day her nurses were telling her that she would be able to go home on Monday!  So to help her cause Audrey went for a walk again and ate her dinner.  By the time I traded places with my mom to take over in the hospital, Audrey was overly exhausted.

Monday 6/30/14:  Audrey waited ever-so-patiently for her doctor to come to her room and tell her that she was going home.  At 9:15 in the morning I got a text from my mom telling me that Audrey got the "All clear" from Dr. Fox!  AUDREY WAS GOING HOME!!!!  Of course they wouldn't discharge her until I got to the hospital.  Unfortunately Alex was fast asleep in a much needed nap, so I had to wait.  I was not about to wake that baby up.  This week has been just as hard for Alex as it was for any of us.

Alex finally woke up at 10:30.  He ate, was changed, and finally we were off to the hospital.  When mom and I made the switch, she told me that Audrey was waiting in a chair in her room.  I got to room 205 and found Audrey waiting patiently for me.  As soon as I walked into the room, Audrey got up and began walking out the door.  I asked her where she was going and she said, "I'm going home!"  Laughing, I told her that we had to wait for some paperwork.  She was sooooo ready to go.  :)

An hour later I had the paperwork signed, prescriptions explained, and phone numbers for the doctors we were on our way to the car.  Audrey was smiling the whole time she was wheeled to the car.

When we got to MaJean's house, Audrey found her daddy, brother Ryan, sister Olivia, and mum (my mother-in-law) waiting for us.  She was so excited!  We ate dinner, played games, and Audrey finally went to bed.  It was a happy time for all of us and we are so grateful that she made it through her surgery.

Tuesday 7/1/14:  We are heading back to College Station today.  Chris and I want to thank everyone who has been (and still are) so supportive of our family during this very stressful time.  To my mom who helped with Alex and stayed with Audrey at night after Chris left so I could stay with Alex.  To my dad and Jenna who helped with Alex, came to the hospital every night so I could leave at a reasonable hour to get back to Alex.  To Pam (my mother-in-law) for taking care of Ryan and Olivia while we were in Austin.  To my sister Melissa and friend Neil who drove to the Hospital to visit with Audrey and for the fun gifts you got Audrey. To Abbey and all my aunts, uncles, and cousins for calling and making sure that Audrey was ok and doing well.  Again, thank you so much for everything.  As we go to follow up appointments I will continue to post updates.  As for now we are going to enjoy our first family dinner with our newly fixed daughter, who we are so grateful for and could not imagine our lives without.

Audrey: your father and I love you so much!  You have been such a trooper and are so brave.  We know it has been a very hard week and you have worked so hard to get home.  Now it is time to relax and recover.  We love you!
