Celebrating the 100 day milestone!

It is a happy mother’s day as we celebrate how far Aaron has come.  Recovery is slow and Aaron is restless, but we are hopeful for what is ahead.  We are especially praying for three particular turning points…

1 – to walk normally.  The amazing news on this front is that for the first time in 6 months Aaron is now able to wear a shoe on his bad foot.  With specialized insoles he can now play ball hockey and go on hikes!  The planned surgery has been cancelled as Aaron’s new immunity is working far better then the team expected.  We are grateful and expect his foot will soon be fully healed.  We thank the Lord for this!

2 -  for his new bone marrow to take over 100%.  Aaron’s mixed bone marrow issue has yet to resolve but the most recent results were promising because they are at an all-time high.  We’re praying the new bone marrow will fully take over in response to the most recent treatment adjustments.  If this happens with some stability, the doctors will consider scheduling the removal of his central line (a long-term IV port for medicine and bloodwork).  Aaron is particularly eager to be tube-less and especially before swim season is in full swing.

3 – to be able to go in public places.  The doctors are hoping Aaron’s immunity will be strong enough for public places come August  -- Aaron, however, is praying his blood counts will start to soar and freedom will come much much sooner!

For day +100 Aaron has listed the 100 things that he is thankful for…

1.                    Shorter hospital stay than expected

2.                    Foot sores are going away faster than expected

3.                    Mom’s back scratches and massages
