Dear Anne-Marie's family and friends,
You're reading this because you've heard that Anne-Marie has not been feeling well. After weeks of blood tests and x-rays and other scans, she was diagnosed yesterday (Thursday) with colon cancer that had spread to her liver. We are all shocked, of course, but are turning our focus and energy toward supporting her on this journey to getting well.
The team managing her care at Georgetown University Hospital here in DC has been helpful and the doctors are (by all accounts) very competent, so we trust she is in good hands. They are working on managing her pain and putting together a treatment plan, and she is finally feeling better. There has been a debate among the doctors about whether surgery or chemotherapy would be the best immediate option for treatment; if the current plan holds, she might start chemo as early as tomorrow (Saturday). Carolyn and Mark have been with her most of the time she's been in the hospital.
Please feel free to share the link to this site with others who are interested in following Anne-Marie's progress toward recovery. We will do our best to update it regularly, and anyone is welcome to leave a comment for Anne-Marie. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and desire to help!
