Thank you for being here. We know you are here, because our mom has touched your life in some way and you are concerned. So I won't delay, and here is the unfortunate prognosis that Annie is facing.
A few days ago, Annie was diagnosed with liver cancer. Identifying liver cancer early can be difficult, as symptoms are subtle and mimic signs of other infections. This was unfortunately the case with Annie, her symptoms only became persistent in the last couple of weeks. But in the last couple of weeks, her medical team has been very thorough and efficient in diagnosing her declining health. Last week, a biopsy was performed on her liver and it was confirmed that she has cancer. We do not know, if the cancer is localized (just her liver) or regional (has spread). More tests will be preformed in the upcoming weeks that will help to determine the best treatment options for Annie. Dr Rivera from Aspen Valley Hospital is heading up all the decisions needed at this time.
Annie's road ahead will certainly be challenging, but together we can guide her through this. We can carry hope in our hearts and let that bird sing to her through this gale.
Thank you for your support and love.
"Hope” is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—
