Fifth Update

Betty and Maureen's rooms smell very fragrant from the flowers and plants that friends and family have sent to lift their spirits and show support. They are very appreciative!

Both Maureen and Betty have been making good progress. Both have been WALKING this week during Physical Therapy sessions. Maureen made it up and down the hallway using a walker a number of times and Betty was walking in the therapy gym using the parallel bars. Their new mobility afforded them both real honest to goodness showers which were renewing. Also, in the last 2 days, Betty has been able to sit in a wheelchair and tolerate the pain from sitting long enough to pay Maureen a visit in her room! They have spent their visits trading PT war stories and commiserating over how much they dislike the food.

Maureen has been given a tentative release date of August 5th, but the date can change based on her progress. Betty has not been given a release date yet that we have been made aware of. I know they are growing tired of being in bed most of the day, enduring pain, and being dependent on others so they are motivated to get well enough to move back home.

Betty and Maureen enjoyed visits from Brody, Tanner, Cade, Kaelyn, Pat and Ami this week. Please continue to keep the them in your thoughts and prayers!

This is welcome news, for sure. We want both of them to know that their Amarillo friends are staying close in heart if not in person. Betty, you are such a strong person, I admire your ability to soldier through the pain and limited activity. Sending lots of love, BJ
