The big news in this update is that as of last Wednesday, Maureen has had a successful move back to her own apartment. YAY!! She is thrilled to be back home even though there will still be challenges until she has recovered 100%. Her son Devan was able to fly down to stay with her in the apartment while she settled back in. His help was much appreciated. She still requires the use of a walker to get around and has to be extra careful when she is alone not to risks any further injury.
As Maureen tests out being back at home, Betty is holding down the fort at Brookdale a while longer. Her possible move date is now August 5th. She was proud to report that she has gained some weight back and is determined to do as much therapy as she can handle. She's definitely feeling more confident and motivated to get back to their apartment as well. With her new confidence and desire to do more on her own, she did experience 2 falls this last week which left her with a bruise on her temple but no other serious injuries thankfully. She's promised to make sure she gets someone to be with her when she moves around to avoid any further risks.
Betty's Sister Maxine and nephew Andrew from Farmington, NM, visited for 4 days as well as some other cousins from out of town. Many laughs were had and the visits did a lot to brighten the days. I know they were both happy to see some new faces!
