The Beast is big, but God is Bigger

Hi. I wanted update everyone since many knew that Brian had an MRI today. Unfortunately, I cannot bring you good news this month. It saddens me so much to let you know that the crazy monster GBM seems to be growing and no longer in abatement. It happened so fast. It has only been 7 weeks since his last MRI (which showed the tumor getting smaller and the swelling dissipating) and, as you can see from the image on the left, we have some considerable growth now. [...]

Pressing On

Hello our beloved friends. Thank you so much for all you are doing in this fight with us. We will be eternally grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support (both financial and countless other ways) coming our way. We are so blessed by you and please know that not a day goes by without us feeling your love and thanking God for what He has given us in you.[...]

Hello friends. I wanted to pop on and give you all an quick update on what is going on with my amazing husband. Since my last post, Brian has received the Optune device and has been wearing it faithfully. If you haven't checked out the TedMed link from the January 1st post, I highly encourage you to. It's a pretty amazing, cutting edge piece of medical equipment that I pray will change countless lives for the better. The compliance rate they want you to have with the device is 18 hours a day, which translates to about 75% of the time. Brian has been wearing it 94% of the time. We figure the more time on it, the better. The arrays need to be changed every three days and he typically takes about 3-4 hours off treatment to allow for his head to get some relief and his body to get some freedom of movement. He likes to use part of that time at the gym, working out a bit and enjoying the sauna or steam room, and the jacuzzi. Though he was never really a "gym person", he does enjoy that time immensely. I have become quite the little expert on changing the arrays. It is actually a time that I look forward to because I get to care for my husband tenderly. We use part of the time to anoint him with sacred frankincense essential oil and pray over him. [...]

It's 10:24pm and we just got back home after being gone since 7:15 this morning. It was a big day at UCSF. Today we had the MRI scan I talked about in my last journal entry. I am so thankful to report that the scan was stable! It still showed some white area which they believe to be some necrotic tissue resulting from the radiation and, hopefully, the immunology treatment. Dr. Taylor, our neuro-oncologist said that it is "trending toward looking better" and that the edema (swelling) is improving. It was such an answer to prayer to hear this. There were some questions on a couple labs but nothing too concerning. She said that it is likely being  caused by the steroids and so Brian will do more labs next week. [...]

Joy in the Journey

I am so sorry that is has taken me so long to update here. Much has gone on in between my last post and for a good part of the time, I was not up for writing. We have appreciated all the texts, emails, calls and love you are constantly sending our way and our hearts are full because of it. Truly.[...]

The Entrusted Life

It has now been just over a month since Brian’s brain surgery. So much has happened since then. I am grateful to have had access to top notch doctors, treatment and clinical trials. I know we are fortunate to be in this place of being cared for by some of the best in the medical field. [...]
