State of the Buzards Address

Hello friends,

We wanted to give an update on both Buzard’s health. Allison is in much better shape since our last update. Her recovery has been speedy and uneventful. She took a week off of work and has bounced back well. She can’t lift anything over 10 lbs for 6 weeks (3 more weeks) but otherwise, her mobility is normal and her pain minimal.

You all treated us so well in the last few weeks. We are INSANELY grateful for all of the meals, treats, more meals, and more treats that were gifted to us. We were thankful for sweet notes and texts and care. Thank you, thank you thank you for making us feel so LOVED!

Adam is doing pretty well, too! He’s been going to physical therapy several times a week and we can both tell a difference in his posture, strength, and mobility. His appetite, energy, and spirits are all up, which is fantastic! Adam is still experiencing pain and swelling from his last surgery 8 weeks ago – the amount of muscle, tissue, and ligaments they cut into will take a long time to heal, but the surgeon’s report last week was that it is healing like it should. Adam is off all meds save for his daily baby aspirin – which is MASSIVE progress.  We dropped off a big old bag of meds to the pharmacy this week to unload all of the unnecessary meds that we have laying around our bathroom cabinet.

We don’t have any “final surgery plans” to announce, and we won’t any time soon. Adam’s oncologist firmly believes that the best thing Adam can do at present is rest and heal. At the last appointment he said, “We nearly killed you this year – literally – and I’m not sure your body could handle one more surgery right now. We can wait a bit for this last surgery.” So, we’ll take his orders and wait. Adam has his next round of scans and blood work in December.

December feels ages away.

So in the meantime, we’ll do what the doctor ordered and rest and heal (and we’ll have some fun – we’ve added our own prescription line). Last weekend, we got to travel to St. Louis to visit some friends and get a change of scenery, which was fabulous.

So, in summary, the state of the Buzards is progressing. Thanks for being our people, our army, our supports!
