And we are off!

We are so very grateful for the care again in Kearney at the Clinic, the hospital, the 2nd floor at children’s, 5th floor and I definitely can’t leave out the transport team that brought us to Children’s.  Caleb kept them pretty busy![...]

Going home!

We are breakin out of here and going home!  Yay!  Praise be to God for Caleb’s quick recovery honestly.  He came a long way in a short amount of time.  We are so blessed and grateful for all of the care.  I plan to stay home next week with him to help him continue to gain strength!  We don’t know when we will discharge today...we just know today!  [...]

Thursday morning update

Not much to update this morning.  We don’t do rounds the same as when he was downstairs.  The nurse said he had a good night.  Over the past week or so we have been watching Caleb’s weight and wondering where he will land when we are out of here...he was 7lb 15 oz when we had weighed Tues and Wed in the clinic when he first got sick.  At one point he read below 7lb and upwards of 11 lb when he had all of his fluids.  Currently he is 8lb 1 oz.  I think we are down most of his fluids. :)[...]

One tube to go!

We are down to one last tube...his feeding tube!  It is so good to see his handsome little face again!  We should see our feeding specialists tomorrow as they ensure he has no feeding issues after having the breathing tube!  Praising God![...]

Outta ICU

We are out of ICU...thanks be to God!  We are now in pediatrics on the 5th floor.  We are in a very quiet room with no construction out of our window.  It really was not bad...we would never complain.  Caleb got the care he needed that’s all that matters! We have a great view of the helicopter launch pad now.  We are beyond grateful for the care team we had.  God blessed us with many great doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, etc.  We are grateful for each one of them.  We have learned so much in the last couple weeks.  [...]

Wednesday 3/20 update

Caleb had another good day yesterday.  He had a bath this morning and even has a gown on now!  He did some PT this morning which is one of the pictures.  During rounds, they said we will be moving to a different floor, so we are moving out of ICU!  We love our care team here so while we are so excited for the progress and improvement we are sad to leave this amazing team!  They have all been such a blessing to us!  [...]

Tuesday morning update 3/19

More good improvements!   He is off the ram and on a high powered heated oxygen.  All steps that he is improving and making headway to go home.  We have no idea when we will be home but we continue to make progress in the right direction.  We have less tubes and we can pick him up and hold him without having help now 😃.  He is content and doing well![...]

Monday morning update 3/18

Happy Monday to you all.  Wishing you a blessed week!  Caleb had a quiet and good evening.  He tolerated the changes made yesterday with the removal of the breathing tube and with the nasal can.  They will continue to work to wean settings down.  He continues to trend in the right direction.  He is looking really good![...]

Sunday evening update

Caleb tolerated being off of the vent fairly well.  He’s still hungry. He’s very alert and moving which again is a welcomed sight from where we have come from.  Since he was on breathing tube his crying is very hoarse but it will get better.  We have such a great care team I just can’t say it enough!  [...]
