Christian was admitted on Friday, March 6 for his last scheduled inpatient Chemotherapy appointment. We are currently at Hopkins, hoping to be discharged tomorrow. Basically, at the start of Christian's treatment we were told he would have 30 weeks of Chemotherapy cycles(3 weeks inpatient/2 week break). Tomorrow, we will officially end this stage of treatment.
Christian is making good progress. Eating very well, maintaining his weight and continuing to be in good spirits. Christian's blood counts have been GREAT and he has not needed any blood or platelet transfusions since his surgery.
So, what's next? Well, Christian will continue receiving immunotherapy treatments once a week outpatient at Hopkins through August. Moreover, on March 17th, we meet again with our orthopedic surgeon to discuss Christian's second leg surgery that will probably take place in April.
We pray that the surgery will go well and that his leg will heal completely this time, in order for Christian to be able to move forward with physical therapy.
In the meantime, I suspect March will be a good time for Christian to rest, give his body time to heal from Chemotherapy and allow uninterrupted time for Christian to catch up in all his classes.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers. We appreciate the visits, text messages, calls and cards that we continue to receive.
We ask for continued prayers as Christian moves forward with treatment. Our prayer is that the second surgery, healing and recovery will be complete and progress positively. We also ask for continued prayers for us as a family, as we continue to move forward with each stage of challenges, obstacles and emotions that we face as individuals, as well as altogether.
