Smooth sailing!

My dear family and friends... I can't begin to thank you for your encouragement, and especially your prayers. My doctor here in California will be watching my blood levels; hopefully the bad stuff in my blood will stay suppressed for a long time. I will continue to get gamma globulin infusions every 4-6 weeks to boost my immune system.

It's been quite a journey. I wish I could talk to all of you and tell you about my discoveries. For now I'll say that two major lessons have emerged:

1. I'm so thankful for a foundation of faith. All the things I've heard and known since I was a child have taken on deeper, richer meaning, from who God is to his promises to his presence.

2. Prayer is powerful! I've never had the experience of having many people praying for me, and the tangible result is overwhelming. I've experienced peace, hope, confidence, joy, and an overall sense of wellbeing.

For me, cancer has been an ugly gift, driving home the reality of mortality, breaking the illusion of self-sufficiency and control, and pointing me to the only source of peace. My times are in his hands (Psalm 31:15)

Again, thank you! I continue to ask for your prayers.

Much love, Carolyn
