Following his first treatment last week, Chris managed through a very hard weekend. The nausea medicine didn’t seem to do much of anything, and the chemo drugs showed us their more extreme side effects. Monday evening, the doctors changed his medicine to a completely different type. We have since coined the phrase “the big dog”. Within 20 mins of receiving “the big dog”, he made a 180 degree turn. The week finished out on a good note and Friday he underwent his second treatment. Clearly we were a bit concerned with how “the big dog” would work for him, considering how last weekend went, however Saturday morning came and it proved to be very effective.
One of the challenges he has faced over the last month has been the ability to eat. If it wasn’t one thing, it was something else that limited his ability to eat. We are very glad to report that since Tuesday, Chris has been eating and has established a goal per week to increase his weight. On Friday, we met with a nutritionist who helped with ideas and provided a good amount of suggestions to help Chris. The best way to sum up the suggestions is, everything everyone else should not eat, he has on his menu.
Chris continues this battle with no complaints. The strength that he displays daily with everything this cancer can throw at him is remarkable. His determination to fight, no matter how hard he gets hit, does not waiver. He is in the fight. He intends to Upset Cancer!
