Just shy of 76

At 5:29 pm mountain time, our father, David Marlin Maughan, left this world. He passed in such a beautiful way. Thank you all for holding him in your thoughts. I'm absolutely certain that he feels your love.

We shared your stories and the many wonderful letters. Tears and love were flowing out of all of us. It was an extremely sad but also peaceful and beautiful moment. Tomorrow would have been his 76th birthday. It's hard to explain how some things end up so poetically cyclical.

Much love,

Rory & Alex

Oh, dear Alex and Rory, I am so sorry to hear this. Your dad was such a presence in our shared early childhood- in the snapshots in my mind of happy times when we were all together he is always there, in the midst of the chaos of little kids, calming and friendly. It was such a pleasure to see him again in recent years as an adult- often sort of an awkward transition, learning how to be a grown-up around someone you knew as a child, but it wasn't with him. I think because he just treated us all like people the whole time. It's good to know his transition out of this world was peaceful and full of love. I am reaching my long arms up to Montana to hug you all. -Hannah B
