Here's where we are with dad's treatment.
In regards to treatment in the states, we are waiting for UCLA to contact us regarding dad's case. We have friends who have connections there and have been more than willing to use them to get dad into an otherwise impossible hospital. We understand at this point, however, that the prognosis will be the same. American medicine, as we know it, even in the hands of the best oncologists and surgeons, will only be able to extend dad's life a matter of months; so onto alternative treatments. We spoke with Klinik St. George, one of the best alternate hospitals in the world. They informed us that dad's case needed to go before a panel of doctors to discuss if they are willing to take dad's case. That was shocking! We are still trying to wrap our heads around the severity of this and this was a reality check. We will receive the call tomorrow as to the decision of the panel. Although this news hit hard, our faith still stands in the One who has dad's future in His hands. Pray that the panel will receive dad's case and that we will have the means to send him there.
The final option is the 'Gerson Treatment' in Mexico. They have found amazing success with healing cancer and many other chronic diseases by a strict regimen of juicing, diet and supplements. It's too much to explain, but this is a completely Biblical principle, that food and water directly affect our health. There is a reason God gave the Hebrews a strict diet to adhere too. So they would be healthy, vibrant and strong, with a clear mind to worship Him and strong bodies to fight for the Promised Land. Daniel, not a warrior, cut out meat and followed God's commands in regards to eating vegetarian and we are told that he looked healthier than all the others in Nebuchadnezzar's palace. So, we still have hope and comfort in our options and God's leading in the path we chose.
We have completely gone organic vegetarian in the house and we only drink alkaline water. We are all detoxing from this because of the years of toxic exposure. Dad is detoxing worst of all because he is eating the most greens, juices and the highest alkaline water at 11.5.
Please pray that he, and all of us, stay reliant on God's strength and direction. That dad's body will detox and he will start to feel better again soon. Pray for all of us at the house, that we don't get overwhelmed with trying to save dad, but keep our eyes fixed on the one who is ultimately in control and has promised that 'all things' will be used for our good.
As a reminder, dad finds so much encouragement from your comments. So please do not shy away from saying what is on your heart and minds, it makes a difference in dad's healing process.

Have you been in contact with Ron and Cathy Kingham? Cathy is going through a wonderful Christian Clinic in San Deigo or close by. The doctor is a German doctor and a lot of what you are saying here is what they've been doing. Continued prayers. Roann
Our co-worker just got an all clear on her four year check up after following the Gerson Therapy. It sure worked for her! Praying for you Gary!

This is Tami Thomas, Jim and Danna Thomas' oldest daughter. I don't know if you remember me, but I was visiting Twin Lakes on Sunday and saw Paul and Nelda. Paul shared about Gary's cancer diagnosis. The next day at work, a coworker, not knowing about this, shared with me her husband's story of colon cancer and the natural and healthy treatment that he chose - he is still alive and healthy 7 years later. Gary and Barton family, I'm thinking and praying for you often. The alkaline water is a great idea and was recommended during my battle. I am so incredibly proud of you guys for making such an immediate transformation in your lifestyle. It takes many people years to do what you've done in just a few weeks. The detoxing is rough (just getting off sugar can be like detoxing from a drug), but it WILL get easier. You just have to get over the hump. I'm also so proud of how open minded you are to any and all types of treatments that may work. I know the days can be up and down, but big picture is you guys have so much love, fight and determination - Dad, you have the best chance possible for beating this thing!! Love you so much. David and I are so happy to hear that you are letting God's healing foods help you. All of us need to heed this and begin now and not wait till we have a disease to begin eating well. We have miraculous bodies that will respond amazingly when given what it desires to thrive. its' so true about the fact that we are poisoning ourselves with the things that we do to our food today. I"m praying for all of you in this. Gary - be sure to know that through it all, God's hand is upon you & all of those that you love. He didn't say it would be easy, He just said He'd never leave us. Thank you for the continuos updates. I have clients who have relatives or themselves that are working through cancer treatments. One has stage 4 cancer with 6mo to 1 year to live with traditional medical treatment and 3 months without. She got the hard sell to do chemo and radiation. She has gone to Reno Integrative Medical Clinic RIMC. Client says all they take is stage 4 cancer and they state they have 65% success rate. This is an alternative treatment ie: change in diet, water and pumping the system with a regiment of vitamins. Sure beats traditional stats. I know that you are probably getting all kinds of ideas and this is just one more. I believe in knocking on doors until God opens the right one up. People have recommended books like "Out Smart Your Cancer" - gives 24 best alternative treatment centers and a lot of compiled info. And Susan Summers book: "Knock Out".
