Long Over Due Update ~
Last night I found myself reaching into the same drawer as I have so many times in the last few weeks. In the drawer are a stack of beautifully engraved thank you note cards. I can't tell you how many times i have wished I could slow the world down just long enough to write each of you a personal note of thanks. But, I must confess there are many times I am completely overwhelmed and my goal is to make it through the day, to make sure Gary receives as much nourishment as his body can handle without ending up in the ER, to assist him during his treatments, to help him be as comfortable as possible, and manage the pain. That is what my day and many of my nights, I am blessed.
I am very aware of the hand of God, the blessings in the middle of this trial and the hope that is always ours, when the world does not offer any hope.
When we asked for help to pay for Gary's treatment, we were completely overwhelmed by the response. We are almost half way to meeting our $50,000 goal. We have received $23,000, $13,000 in cash a pledge for $10,000. We are in need of further support as the the treatment is a six month protocol but the bulk of the treatment is done in the first six weeks, and we are paying each week as we go. Thank you so much for assisting Gary in receiving treatment in a clinic where a prognosis is not given, the doctor said, I am not God." A clinic where each staff member is thinking of us and Gary's well-being, and a place where all different approaches to defeating cancer are considered and implemented when it appears Gary might benefit from the intervention.
Instead of saying we are running out of money!! We are saying the Lord in our Shepard we shall not want. Psalm 23:1.
We are blessed to have each of you holding us up in prayer, assisting in our financial needs, reaching out to us and holding us close to your hearts as we walk this journey together.
Our current prayer requests are that Gary would stop losing weight, that the Lord would guide the doctor in knowing if surgery is an option, that Gary would not have a total blockage, and that the treatments he is receiving would stop the spread of the cancer and kill the cancer cells. Prayers for endurance to run the race set before us. Several days after Gary was diagnosed I was studying the word of God and I read, "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we shall reap a harvest if we do not lose heart." Galatians 6:9
So I reach in the that same drawer again, pull out the beautifully engraved thank you note cards, take a deep breath and then remember each of you to the Lord in thanks. I put the note cards back in the drawer again and know that there is a time coming when I will have the time to express my love and gratitude to each of you personally.
Blessings, Dawn

Thank you, Dawn, for taking the time to let us know what is happening and how to pray. So many at NorthGate are asking how you all are doing. They are praying. I am too. You are right to conserve strength for the battle and we all understand if you cannot communicate everything to us. We love you and continue to trust God for Gary's healing. Much love, Jan
Thank you so much for the update. The last thing you need to worry about is Thank You notes. Your mission is clear and set before you, continue taking care of Gary - and remember to try and take care of you. Fred and I continue to keep you in our thoughts and pray for Gary's total recovery.
Thank you Dawn for the update. Jan Londe is right... We pray for Gary and your family every Sunday night during our "Sacrificial Prayer Meeting" I will give an update on Gary's condition and the need for finances on our next meeting. Praying for complete healing! Blessings on you Gary and your family.
I pray that the healing hand of the Lord will touch Gary, and also hold you up and give strength to you and your family.
I understand perfectly.
Thank you for the reminder that what I am going through is so much less than what you and others are facing. My mother broke her hip two weeks ago, and it's a life-changer for all of us (she has dementia also, and the doctor says she is not to live alone for the next year because of the hip), but at least for now I am able to continue working my new job that, for the first time in more than a decade, has benefits (thank you, Lord!). It doesn't sound like you have time to work on top of taking care of Gary. May God sustain you all and do miracles in your lives.
I am thinking of you and am begging God for His will to be done remembering that He gives us what we need but also doesn't forget what we want.
