Learning to Trust~

Did you know the first thing God wanted to do after creating Adam and Eve was to bless them? Yep, that is God. You see if I am able to stay grounded in the truths of God and who he is found in Gods word, then I have peace and peace gives rest.

Last night and my early morning were filled with fear and So today I reminded myself who God really is, I did that staying close and soaked in Scripture and tonight I have peace.

Today in the early am Gary was told that there might be a surgery that would allow him to to get a drain in his stomach that would allow him to have his nose tube removed. If he was able to do that he would return home. You could see how this possibility was an encouragement to Gary and the family. By the end of the day the surgeon had concluded Gary's intestines were to swollen and the surgery is not an option. This means Gary will be in the hospital for several more weeks. Until the Chemo shrinks those tumors.  So we continue to lean on the Father, our Father who from the beginning of time desired to bless us and show his love to us.

I am moved to ask you to post regularly, scripture, whats going on in your life and what is God teaching you? Send cards, encouraging movie ideas and books. Visitation is limited but there are lots of ways you can show him that you care and are standing with him. Tonight Gary was watching the Bethany Hamilton story, he loves the surfing and the will to win.

Every night as I head to bed I find that I am grateful, as grateful as Gary to know you are all out there and helping Team Barton, Knock Out Cancer!

Gary is currently in Dominican Hospital in room 53. Our new address is 1555 Merrill Street #53, Santa Cruz, CA. 95062.

Blessings,

Dawn and Team Barton

We are watching that movie too! My favorite part is when she helps the little boy get back in the water after the tsunami. Love to see how she allowed the Lord to work in her heart through the whole thing. Dennis Quaid isn't too hard to watch either.... :-)

Some good friends of mine were involved in making that movie. I pray that we can paddle out and surf one day soon! Even though I'll be kind of a kook with a long board.

I'm excited about my "Footsteps of Paul" Pilgrimage in 25 days. This is a HUGE praise God thing for me....I haven't been on a long plane ride since my trauma. I was told I was dying, the fevers had begun...yet here I am... going on a pilgrimage to Greece and Turkey. I'm still stunned...who lives and has all of their faculties after multiple stabbings including the heart? Seriously? "If He did it for me...He can do it for you..."!! Gary, feel free to ask your dad about what happened to me...he had a front row seat! I can't imagine what it would be like to have a prayer warrior like him for a dad. You are so blessed! I am so jealous!

We met her this summer. She is just as amazing as she is portrayed in the movie. Very inspiring.

We are building a house. It is the culmination of dreams to live in the real country on more than an acre of land and to build our own house from start to finish. It has been journey of major proportions as God gave us a beautify piece of property. He has provided us with many of the building materials and the trees to build it with, help of friends and family. WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Even when you are tired, roughing it is getting really old (no indoor plumbing or electricity except for 2 hours at night sometimes and 400 sq ft), satan starts bombarding you with all sorts of obstacle, doubts and fears. What keeps us going is Praising God for every little and big thing, staying in the Word and keeping our eyes focused on what God has already done in our lives. He is in control. He loves us. He brought us out here for a purpose. "The mind of man plans his way but the Lord directs his path." He promises to never leave or forsake us no matter what happens. Gary and Dawn I know that this journey for you is a really tough one but God is there and He will be victorious!

I am finding out that there is plenty of human nature (sin nature) to deal with in my little church. Of course, my personal struggle is HUGE. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and his blood covers my sins so that I may enter his perfect kingdom. I always try to stay focused on that. My mother always said, "you go to church for God, not the people, Damaris", and I always knew she was right. It is getting past me that is always the struggle. I'm still living in the senior community in Wildomar. Interestingly enough, the pastor and his wife are old friends of mine from Crestline. I feel very blessed...and can see God's hand in this....that He loves me so much! Out of all the trillions of beings, He took time to make it seem urgent that I make that U turn back to the car wash at that little church. Dawn...you will be happy to hear that I am doing a lot less swearing, and am holding myself accountable so that I might be a more Christ like example to others. I pray everyday for you, Gary, and I have faith that God can completely heal you. That is what I ask Him for, .....that and to not forget how faithfully you have served Him. I pray that you feel the presence of the Holy Spirit within you, and Jesus loving arms wrapped around you. I haven't forgotten about the house in Palm Springs, and the financial burden it is. God will provide an answer...We only need faith the size of a mustard seed to move mountains. Love in Jesus, Damaris. (Dee)
