Video Presentation at Mom's Service

Thank you to everyone who participated the Celebration of Life for mom on her birthday, November 15.  It was a beautiful way to celebrate a beautiful life.  The following is a link to the video presentation that played during the visitation hour. Many thanks to Linda Yoneshige for putting this beautiful tribute to mom, it is truly a gift we will always treasure.[...]

Memorial Service Information

Thank you everyone for your condolences and your thoughts and memories of mom.  It is so comforting to know that mom had such a wide network of friends and loved ones whom she touched during her lifetime.  Information on her memorial services follows:[...]

Well Done Good and Faithful Servant

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servant. Psalms 116:15

Mom passed away peacefully this morning around 9 am with both of us at her side. While our hearts are heavy, we know mom is rejoicing in heaven in the presence of the Lord with Dad and many loved ones who have gone before. Thank you all for your love, support and prayers over the last year, but most of all thank you for adding your special touch to mom’s life.[...]

The Power of Prayer

Thank you to everyone for your prayers for mom.   As I watch mom sleep peacefully, I know the power of prayer – your prayer – is keeping her comfortable, pain-free, and peaceful.   While we prayed so hard for the physical healing of her body, I have no doubt that God answered us by healing her spirit and placing his hand on her to make her journey home as painless and as peaceful as possible. Thank you for your prayers.[...]

A Quiet Place

Mom has asked for a quiet space as she prepare for her journey home to be with the Lord.  We are so thankful for all the visits from friends and family over the last several months.  They have been a source of strength and comfort, a time of joy and laughter, and a time to share many memories with mom.  However,  it is now time for us to ask for no visitors.  Please know that although you may not be able to see her in person, she  holds all of you in her heart and feels all of your thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for your understanding.[...]

Bread of Life

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.   John 6:35

Mom stopped eating several days ago.  The hospice folks tell us that her body cannot handle food anymore and although we can provide some liquid nutrition through her G-tube there maybe a point when this could cause more harm than good.  This was hard to reconcile in my mind, but when she woke up with stomach pain this morning after a feeding last night, I got what they are saying.  Mom is now living solely on the Bread of Life.

She is resting as comfortably as she can right now.  She is dealing with some pain and is sleeping more throughout the day.   Steve is coming for a visit in the next week.  We have no idea how much time mom has, but I am thankful for every day we have together.

Thank you to everyone, for the visits, food, flowers and visits, calls, emails, posts on this site, and for your continued thoughts and prayers.  From near and far you have provided much support and comfort.

It's Been a Year: Update on Mom's Current Condition

A year ago yesterday mom had her colon cancer surgery. What we thought would be a simple surgery to remove the cancer turned out to be a much more complicated situation. They were not able to remove the mass in her colon and found that the cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes and liver. Later a PET scan revealed that the cancer had also spread to her lungs and hipbone as well.  [...]
