Port and a Wig

Thanks again to everyone who has left kind words on this site or gone out of their way to do something nice for Beth. Grove's Groupies are truly the best!

Beth had her chemotherapy port put in last week. For those of us who haven't needed to learn what a chemotherapy port is, it's a small device that is implanted under your skin to allow easy access to your bloodstream during chemotherapy. Beth did great during the outpatient surgery, recovered nicely at home and is feeling pretty much back to normal. She has a few more tests to get through including an MRI and PET scan before starting chemo on July 31.

Beth also started trying on wigs. Not sure we've found the right one yet.

Just kidding! We love that Beth is keeping her sense of humor through this process.

Beth has taught us all many things in life, and one reoccurring lesson is that there is always a silver lining. Our silver lining with this diagnosis has been the absolute outpouring of love and support that our whole family has received. So thank you all, and keep the good thoughts and prayers coming.

Hi, Bethie and Carrie, I am in close contact with an MV friend (grad 1970 like me), Jamie Johnson Hunter, now in Huntington Beach, who is a real support for breast cancer patients, and is an active survivor and advocate. She wanted to let you know she is available to talk (I have her cell phone), to connect you with Komen now in Irvine, or in any way she can help, if you are interested. I can share this link with her, if that's okay, or you can email me at [email protected], and I can connect you privately. Let me know if any of this is something you are interested in. 🤗 Judy
