Commercial Breaks

I had a good holiday weekend, yet it got my routine off track-I just could not get up to swim this morning & that's okay, I will go tomorrow.

We all have curve balls thrown our way & I know for me, they can really affect the plans I have for every day-routine is important to me.

Sure, I love pleasant surprises, it is the challenging ones that can cause stress & confusion.

That is the time to pull back & take a commercial break (I find most TV commercials annoying, so I use that time to use the bathroom, grab a drink or even read).

Commercials are meant to grab our attention, so by taking one yourself, it helps to get yourself grounded, calm & get some perspective.

Taking yourself out of a situation changes your energy-I leave the house & go to the store or library & I can positively distract myself, then, approach the situation in a better mind frame.

I know a lot of us use avoidence to cope, however, I find that the challenge can become bigger, either with the situation or how it affects me.

For example, I get into a disagreement with a person & choose to ignore how it has made me think & feel, later, it will come out with feelings of resentment-so I may be critical towards the person or I will beat it to death in my mind & loose my sense of peace & joy.

So the healthier choice is to take a commercial break, let the other person know that I need some time to think & when I feel calm, ask if we can resolve the situation.

I know it is not always easy & sometimes we need to say sorry even if we were not in the wrong to attain peace-every one of us is at a different level of awareness of how we affect others-& unfortunately some people do not want to be accountable.

Knowing what people are like helps us to have realistic expectations of them. We deserve to take care of ourselves & to use as many commercial breaks as we need.

You Are Worth So Much!

God Bless
