Back to school time has come and that certainly adds to the feeling of "normal" around here. I went to open house at Cam's preschool and wasn't the lady with the head wrap and the penciled on brows. My dad tells me that my hairstyle looks like it is on purpose now. Only a woman who was previously bald would call this a "nice head of hair". I must say, the hair growth is crazy. I can't seem to keep up with shaving my legs and my face has what we are kindly calling peach fuzz. I've never seen a peach with a beard like this. Luckily it is fine and blonde. I expect it will kind of disappear when some of the last few body functions return to normal. Summer is winding down, at least the summer vacation calendar, and we're trying to make the best of every day! Week night boat outings, picnics at the summer music events, it has all been fun. Yesterday my friend Heather threw me a "I'm Cancer Free" party. It was so much fun. I've said it many times, I hesitate to celebrate because we never know what tomorrow will bring, but today I am cancer free and a party was a great way to thank some of our friends and family for the support they have given us. It was a beautiful day and we had an awesome time. These days are good days.[...]

The port has been removed. 

I had surgery this morning to get that thing out! Things in the OR were running behind, so my 9:15 procedure happened at 11:00, but I'm not complaining. It was a bizarre experience. It started out with more shots than I care to count in order to numb the area locally. That was followed by quite a bit of cutting and pulling. Eventually, the port came out (and yes I did get to look at it). I was stitched up, covered with a bandage and sent on my way. [...]

Non-cancer post, phew!

Everyone either has a garden full of zucchini or a neighbor with one right now. Blueberries are ready to be picked at your local berry farm and are available for $1.88 / pint at the grocery store. This recipe is my #1 for "in season" baked goods. I've done it as muffins, small loaves and a full loaf. DELICIOUS and easy. [...]
