January 20th

Jodi has been off all sedation for more than 48 hours now and is mostly breathing on her own.  Seizure activity returned in the early hours of yesterday morning.  This is called postanoxic status epilepticus and indicates severe brain injury.  Jodi has not regained consciousness.  She is calm and does not seem to be in any pain.  We believe she hears us and knows that we are with her.  When we talk to her and read to her she seems more peaceful, and her heart rate decreases.  There are no restrictions on visitations now.  She is receiving excellent care and I believe the entire nursing staff on the second floor is in love with Macklin.  We continue to appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

I know that Jodi takes no prisoners so know that she’s in there just waiting to surface. Please tell her that Michele Cooper will be there tomorrow and I’m bringing a banana cake! I bake when I’m upset or upset someone else. Jodi will tell you all about my baking when she can. Share the cake with the nursing staff because I’m sure they have been wonderful with Jodi and all of you. Love to Macklin. I’m praying for all of you.

Saw Jodi today. Jillian, Bob and I were reminiscing about Franklin days. I hope Jodi was able to hear us. Please pray for her. She is very strong but she needs our strength to get through this very difficult time. Mac is a wonderful son. Jodi should be very proud of him. I’m going back to see her on Friday.

Palma and I visited Jodi today. Macklin and Nora were there as well. I announced myself, held her hand, and told her that I loved her. I just tried to keep the conversation positive. I spent some time with Macklin and Nora as well. I told Jodi that I loved her and that this wasn’t goodbye, rather I’ll see you later. Keep praying. 😔🙏🏽

Oh, Macklin was waiting on the results of a recent MRI. 🙏🏽 Jodi’s cousin and aunt entered the room while we were there, so we gave them the courtesy of some family time and left. ❤️
