Back to MD Anderson

I have been readmitted to MD Anderson for a fever I developed during my one, sweet day of freedom. They placed me on antibiotics and removed my Port and my PICC lines because they believed this to be the source of the infection. Once removed, my fever dropped almost immediately. (Hooray!)[...]

Post Surgery Update

My surgery 12/5 went very well and, as of today, I am still inpatient at MD Anderson. My original discharge date of 12/13 was pushed back due to minor internal bleeding from surgery. Rather than having additional surgery, the doctor wanted to see if this could resolve itself and I’ve been successful (WOOT!). I’m now crossing my fingers for new discharge of tomorrow, 12/18.[...]

Getting Ready for Surgery #2

Hi Everyone,

I am gearing up for my trip to Houston! Adrian and I will be flying in 12/3 and gastrectomy is scheduled for the 5th. This surgery is going to be a big one with a long recovery. I will be in Houston for the month of December and will have a feeding tube for 6-8 weeks. After this, I will be able to return to eating normal foods - just less of them and more often. Additionally, my doctor has agreed to follow up remotely which will save me from flying back-and-forth (hooray!).[...]

Christmas in Houston

A quick update - MD Anderson has scheduled my gastrectomy for 12/5. They anticipate me being inpatient for 7-14 days and then in Houston through the end of December. Adrian and I will be flying into Houston 12/3 so that I can have an endoscopy and blood work completed in advance. [...]

HIPEC/Shake-N-Bake surgery went well. I spent the week in Houston/Livingston recovering and I’m now back in Charleston. I have a little residual muscle soreness but, overall feeling great.[...]
