Getting Ready for Surgery #2

Hi Everyone,

I am gearing up for my trip to Houston! Adrian and I will be flying in 12/3 and gastrectomy is scheduled for the 5th. This surgery is going to be a big one with a long recovery. I will be in Houston for the month of December and will have a feeding tube for 6-8 weeks. After this, I will be able to return to eating normal foods - just less of them and more often. Additionally, my doctor has agreed to follow up remotely which will save me from flying back-and-forth (hooray!).[...]

Christmas in Houston

Hi all, 

A quick update - MD Anderson has scheduled my gastrectomy for 12/5. They anticipate me being inpatient for 7-14 days and then in Houston through the end of December. Adrian and I will be flying into Houston 12/3 so that I can have an endoscopy and blood work completed in advance. [...]

Recovering

Thank you to everyone for your support! I was released yesterday morning and am recovering at Adrian's Aunt Carla's home in Livingston, TX. I am a little sore, but getting around and just a little nauseous. Resting well and being well cared for. :)[...]

Near finished with surgury 4:57 CST

Kari had an awesome set of bloodwork before she went in. Hemoglobin, white blood cell count, liver enzymes, all things that have shown up as issues during chemo at MUSC, were back to normal and perfectly in line. This improvement is from her not having treatment for the last 4 weeks.[...]

Surgry Today

HI everyone! A quick update – I am going in for my HIPEC/Shake N Bake surgery at MD Anderson today. Check-in time is at 11:30AM CST and the whole thing should take 3-4 hours. Adrian will be posting the post-surgery update here. They anticipate I'll be in the hospital for 2-3 days. Thoughts, prayers, and positive vibes welcome![...]
