Katie's Last Day Of Chemo

Today was Katie's last day of chemo. She has been going once a week for the last 3 months (6 months total) and today she got to ring the c'ya I'm outta here bell - she is so excited to be done with that. Now she waits 6 weeks and then goes in for surgery. She is still in good spirits and having minimal side effects. Her surgery is scheduled for Tuesday October 10th be sure to send your prayers and love - she will need them. She will be out of work for over a month so Mom will be coming to help take care of her. [...]

"Wigged" Out By All This Chemo

The chemo is starting to kick in! After Katie's last round of chemo a few weeks ago her hair started falling out and true to her style and spirit she went ahead and took out the clippers and just shaved it - no one wants to watch as their hair falls out and she was not about to have that. It comes as no surprise that she looks awesome with a shaved head - it suits her and she had always wanted to shave her head so we will take the positives where we find them through this journey![...]

Update On Katie's Chemo

Last Tuesday Katie had her 1st chemo treatment. Mom was with her which made it a bit easier. It was a long day but all went well! It has been 5 days and so far she has had very minimal side effects which is great news! Today she said she felt almost back to normal so hopefully the treatments will continue like this. I think her positive attitude helps a lot! She will have 3 more big treatments before she moves into once a week treatments for 12 weeks. Our brother Bradley is coming out this Thursday for Easter weekend, she's so excited so see him. She has had a visit from California family every week - she is loving that she gets to be with family she normally doesn't see too often because of the distance. Everyone near and far has been so supportive, she was telling me today how lucky she feels to have everyone's love and support! We will continue to keep you updated when anything new transpires. [...]

3/30/2017 Update On Katie

Today Katie went and had her port inserted so she is all set up to start her chemo next week. She is a little sore from the procedure and resting but still in good spirits. Jake (our brother) is here visiting/taking care of her this week, it was so sweet of him to fly out and she is thankful to have him there - it's always nice to have someone close to laugh and cry with during times like this. Next Monday Mom will be flying in for the week so she will be here for Katie's first chemo treatment so she is looking forward to that.[...]
