Cinco de Mayo - Omaha

Good Evening KelleyStrong Supporters,

I’d like to start with an apology.  I tried to post this last week from my iPad and found out it in fact it had not posted.  Long electronic story, but hopefully, it is now fixed.

Kelley and Lisa drove to see Dr. Foster May 5th.  Kelley actually drove for a bit, so needless to say, they arrived a little  Once in Omaha, they celebrated the holiday by having dinner with Christian.

Monday was filled with blood tests, scans, visit with the nurses and culminated with an appointment with our friend and surgeon, Dr. Foster.

He noticed right away, that Kelley had colored her awesome is that?!?!?!?!

Dr. Foster was in show and tell mode and showed Kelley and Lisa pictures of everything he removed and pictures taken during surgery.

He thinks Kelley is doing great for being 7 weeks post op at the time of their visit.  That being said, Kelley endured a 16 hour surgery and had her digestive tract reconstructed.  That is going to take a while to heal.

Kelley had the wound vac removed, only to learn she needs to get it put back on for two more weeks.  She has one drain left.  The scan showed a pocket of fluid, so the drain will stay in, not sure how long.  She is now on IV nutrition for 8 hour a day.  He wanted her to go every other night or 3-4 times a week, but insurance would not pay for that........

Her scans looked good.  Her abdomen was clear of disease!!!  The remaining 5% he couldn’t get too has not spread and seems to be holding.

Kelley will start up chemotherapy shortly and that will be through the summer.

What does all this mean......

Kelley is a adjusting her eating habits to accommodate the changes in her body.  She is making great progress, it is just going to be one day at a time.  Some days are better than others, but she is hanging tough.

If you would like to visit, send her a text, FB message or call.

Kelley did get out to see Maren Morris at the pageant last week.  A huge shoutout to the Pageant.  They put us in ADA seating and it worked out great.  She even stood for a few songs.

Thank you all again, and I encourage you to reach out.  God Bless you all!!!!
