More Hospital Time & Surprise Visitor

Yes, we are still in the hospital. It's day 17 for Kel. This week has been a bit of a roller coaster. Thinking we would be released Monday, to a step backward with Kelley having no energy, and no ability to keep anything down for a few days. A CT found another fluid pocket next to her stomach that needed to be drained, causing the slowdown in progress, so things are now looking up again! I can’t tell you how relieved we are! She feels soooo much better and already had a good workout today... strength and balance improving!
We still don’t know about a release date to Hope Lodge, but I’ll let you know when I know:) [...]

Day 15

It has been a roller coaster ride... Kelley is still in the hospital, hoping to get out in the next day or two. Her new digestive system is still adjusting. Baby steps. Patience. We can do this![...]

Peanut Butter and Jelly

Finally, something Kelley found that doesn't taste like s#!t!

Just went through mail and opened a few cards after our walk, which always warms her heart. This batch welled up a few tears and sparked a few good chuckles :) So nice to see her laugh![...]

Tuesday, March 19th Update

Hello KelleyStrong Army,

Our favorite patient continues to amaze Dr. Foster, her surgeon.  Kel has been upgraded to a full liquid diet and there is talk of her escaping the hospital walls this weekend, but we are in a wait and see mode on that.  Just the mere talk of it is very encouraging though!!![...]

Update - Friday, March 15th

Happy Friday!!!!  It has been a good one in Omaha for our girl Kelley.

She did not sleep well last night with all the machines/monitors beeping, blinking and making annoying noises in general.  This morning they felt her blood pressure was stable enough to disconnect the internal blood pressure monitor, which was responsible for making most of the noise.  Hopefully that will translate into better sleep for her tonight.  [...]
