9 Days back in the STL

First of all GO BLUES!!!   And I am no JJ or Angie LOL    Kelley is improving a little each day. Taking walks outside or if raining goes to the store to walk. Eating more each day.  My cooking has not hurt her yet. Kris and Mom also has made a few meals. She did attend Sunday Family dinner glad to have her back. Kelley journey is a day to day and all we can ask for is to do more each day. She has had a few visitors which she enjoyed (different people to see and talk too). Christian, Jordan and the entire Christopher Family once again wants to Thank everyone for all the prayers, thoughts, cards and donations during Kelley journey. Still a long road ahead but as JJ says Think Fence Kelley and you have a lot of people waiting at home plate to help you.  [...]

Manic Monday - Part 2

What a day!  We were up and ready by 7:30. Deb and Linda ( we did not take any pictures.....uuugghh) came by to see us off and then we headed to Nebraska Med Center for a drain check.  What we thought would take an hour or so, turned into several, as they were busy and working us in the schedule.  To compound the situation, their computer system had an update and it was throwing everyone off.  I could tell you several stories from the day like, how Kelley was done in 15 minutes when two of three people told us an hour, how the updated computer system messed up the schedule today and how I (not Dina) briefly lost Kelley in the Buffet Cancer Center.  All these stories have humor too them, but what a day.  So, here’s the good news.  Kelley has one drain left and we are hopeful it will be removed tomorrow.  Kelley got to take a shower on her own and felt 100x better when she got out.  Her back was bothering her today, but with some medicine and walking, she got it under control. Dr. Foster said her incision looks great and reduced her TPN from 19 hours to 14 hours.  Her blood levels are looking great too.  Not sure if you all are aware, but at one time, Kelley had 5 drains, a wound vac (which has a vacuum hose hooked up to her incision area and comes in a handy carrying case, it promotes healing) and now she has TPN, which is in a backpack with a pump for 19 hours.  Could you imagine trying to sleep with all this stuff?  So being down to one drain, a TPN backpack and the wound vac is huge.  So happy for her and hope she sleeps even better tonight!!!  [...]

In and Out KelleyStrong Style - Friday, April 6th

Kelley had a great day yesterday.  Last night around 9 pm, she started experiencing back pain on her lower left side (of her back).  We gave her ibuprofen and it didn’t do much.  She increasingly began to feel worse, so we gave her a pain killer and it didn’t touch it.  So after much discussion, we decided to go to the emergency room at 1:30 am.  [...]
