We are enjoying life without the halo! Thanks for celebrating with us!
Kellie had some "growths" on the pinsites on the sides of her head, so the doctor removed one and injected something into the other one. Her skin is "reacting to the trauma" from the halo; her front pinsites will probably need treatment as well. It's a small hurdle in the recovery process. The girls are still wearing stiff collars (just not in the above photo). They are continuing to finish their junior year of high school through home studies; it's physically and mentally demanding still. Kellie meets with a physical therapist once a week.
Here's an update from TC on Becca:
"Becca had another brain scan, MRA, to see if the left vertebral artery was working. Unfortunately, it is totally occluded (not working). The brain doctor was afraid of that. It's too risky to put a stent into the artery and open it up, She could have a stroke if they did that right now. Becca continues to have physical therapy on her neck for range of motion and strengthening. She has been having some new numbness in her legs, so we will see the doctor for that. She has an appointment to see the doctor for her pelvis and back fractures soon. She had a tough time with the SAT's. Due to the traumatic brain injury the doctors have order speech therapy with cognitive and linguistic training and a neuro psych test that will test her cognitive abilities so we will know what areas to work on.
On a happy note...Becca and Kellie went to the prom and had a wonderful time. Nails, hair, makeup, dress, shoes..the works. They looked like Princesses. Becca and Forrest(her date) were dubbed "Barbie and Ken"!
Thank you again for all the prayers and please continue to pray for our journey is not yet over. Mother's Day was very special for Stacie and me this year. This adventure has
changed both of our families' lives."
Philippians 3:4-7 "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
