Friday, March 25

Thank you (again) for your continued thoughts and prayers! Last week the halo girls spoke in chapel at King's Middle School...showing pictures, talking about life in a halo, sharing scriptures that have encouraged them in the journey. Last Sunday was their PSHS soccer banquet. It was a tough afternoon...there were tears...TC and I were able to thank the parents, players and coaches for their support and love...then Kellie and Becca gave each teammate a gift bag with a framed photo of the team the night they won DVL and humorous gifts just for that player...shared laughter! On Monday, TC, the girls, and I stopped by one of the fire houses that we knew were involved with the accident on Jan. 21. We were seeking some infomation and (long story short), we ended up meeting the fireman/paramedic that helped Kellie that day. He was so happy to see the girls and know of their progress. He took the girls on a tour of the fire house and showed them all the parts of the fire truck. Of course they got to sit in the front of the truck for a photo op! Hugs to Andy![...]

Tuesday, March 15

I've hesitated to post something because with the utter devastation in Japan, our situation pales in comparison. However, so many of you continually ask us how the girls are doing, so here's an update. I'm going to share our Sunday evening with you. Kellie was in tears, saying "I'm so done with this." It's the halo...it's the isolation (no school, no sports)...it's being unable to do "things" you could do before this accident...the pain, the trouble sleeping. She absolutely is grateful that things didn't turn out worse the day of the accident...she knows God has His hand on her life. However, sometimes, you're just "done," ya know?! We were sitting at the kitchen table and Rich reached over and prayed for her. Later in the evening, I walked into her room; she was typing on her laptop, and she pointed out this scripture hanging on her bedroom wall. This is what she posted on her facebook page:[...]

Monday, March 7

I still can't believe it's the month of March already! Thanks again for your continued concern and prayers as we continue on this unexpected journey. Last Friday marked 6 weeks since the accident. The girls visited the site together on Sunday afternoon. They saw the skidmarks, stood next to the tree where the car finally landed, and picked up pieces of glass and even small pieces of the car...and were thankful to not only be alive, but walking. A man walked by, stopped, and asked if they were the girls who had been in the accident. He said he had been praying for them. How great that he could see visible answers to his prayers! The girls had done 'double church" that morning...service at Desert Springs Church and then over to Desert Chapel. They are learning to trust God fully.[...]

Thursday, March 3

It's a little after midnight and I couldn't sleep. So much on my mind. We were over at TC and Becca's house Wed. afternoon so Kellie could get her hair washed - woohoo! Always a highlight of the week! TC and I were chatting...feels like we are jugglers, keeping all the balls in the air. Becca has PT/OT 2-3 times a week still. Both girls are working their way through their classes with teachers who come to the house; it's certainly not how they wanted to spend the last half of their junior year in high school. They are going to PSHS this morning to thank the ladies who gather to pray around the flagpole every Thursday morning. The women visited the girls in the hospital, bringing flowers, and later meals to our homes. I'm balancing (juggling I tell ya) Kellie's care and working half days. She has an EEG on Friday; on Monday we see the neurosurgeon (will xray her neck) and then the "halo people" (to tighten the pin sites). It's been about 6 weeks, and the girls have 6 more to go with the halos. They would love for these 8 pound frames to be off yesterday![...]
