Your prayers were answered again...Becca's infection is clearing. The neurosurgeon wants her to keep her neck immobile as much as possible in the stiff collar over these next few weeks. She switches to a different collar for showering. She's continuing OT three times a week and will follow up with the dr. on the 26th for more instructions.[...]

Thursday, April 7

From TC: so Becca and I have been on a roller coaster ride the last few days. We ended up in the emergency dept. on Wednesday due to swelling in her face and eye. They took xrays, gave her IV antibiotics and had labs drawn.  Her face and eye continued to swell throughout the night, so I took her to the neurosurgeon's office this morning. Long story short...Dr. Menoni made the decision to remover her halo today before the infection got any worse. They took a culture from her infected pin site after the removal. Kellie was by Becca's side while they removed her halo...we all cried when it was off.  We then had to see an eye doctor because the swelling and infection went to the orbit  of her eye. The eye doctor is going to look at her under a powerful microscope in the operating room tomorrow where I work to make sure everything is okay. Becca has to wear a stiff collar brace 24/7 for three weeks. I waited to hug her until we got home, and it was the best hug ever! I have to admit that I cried quite a bit. My daughter's back and chest were so tiny...she is just so thin...but I got a great hug. Now we are waiting for Kellie to get her halo off. They can't wait til they are twins again and, of course, we will be there for Kellie. Please continue to pray for the girls' full recovery. We are blessed to have prayer chains for the girls and our families. Thank you again so very much![...]

Wednesday, April 5

(Wednesday, April 6) Prayer needed! Becca had a setback today. She woke up with infected pins...even her eye was swollen. She and TC spent several hours in the ER this afternoon. They immediately gave her an IV with antibiotics. They did an xray to make sure the infection wasn't in the bone. She is still swollen on one side (getting worse actually). Please pray that the antibiotics clear this up quickly. THANK YOU faithful prayer partners! :)[...]

Tuesday, April 5

Greetings and thank you again for your continued thoughts and prayers for this journey we've been on.

TC says: Becca is continuing PT/OT 3 times a week. Her left arm is getting stronger and stronger. We enjoyed our trip to Pt. Loma Nazarene University last week over spring break. The four us had a "girls day out."  We met with the soccer coach at the college; he had many words of inspiration for the girls. Becca's 17th birthday was April 2. It wasn't what she imagined, but at least we were blessed to be able to celebrate the day at all! The youth group helps Becca get through the week.  The girls are counting down the days to get the halos off. They are both going to prom in May and are excited to get dressed up and to see all their friends. Thank you again King's Middle School for all the food you delivered. It was all tasty! Thank you for your continued prayers and thoughts for our girls and families.[...]
