Out of the hospital!

I talked to mom this morning and she's been getting fed up with the hospital. She can now walk on her own with a walker though not very far, but getting out of bed is the tricky part. At night she has to go to the bathroom and sets off alarms because she tries to do it on her own. She thinks the nurses are mad at her and she's probably right. That's a great sign she's ready to leave.

I spoke with a liaison at RHI (Rehabilitation Hospital of Indianapolis) this morning, which is where mom is headed to relearn functions like walking, cutting up her food, etc. It'll be heavy on physical and occupational therapy and I know she'll work hard at it. They're excited to start working with mom and I liked the woman I spoke to.

We've requested a private room in hopes of making it as nice as possible, though I'm sure she'll still be ready to get home. I know I would be.

After speaking to mom on the phone a few times (she sounds great!) I couldn't get a hold of her when I called back again. I reached her nurse and she told me she was just transferred out!

Heather and I both heard from Jay after they arrived at RHI. She was in a chair and not feeling well after a jarring ride. Tomorrow she'll begin her day at 6am and go until 6pm with meal breaks and socializing.

We couldn't be more excited to send this update. Heather just printed 30 pages of your comments and will leave them with mom Wednesday morning. Thank you so much for your support through it all. We're expecting a 7-10 day stay in rehab before finally heading home.
