Hopeful turning point

Mom initially had a better night but as always things began to deteriorate as it went on. I shared details of her MRI in the last update.

Mom's nurse was named Golda and she was incredible, doing things above and beyond what a nurse should be doing like bringing me a chair without being asked when she saw me kneeling on the floor next to mom's bed.[...]

Resting

It's been about seven hours since the last update and we're seen a lot happen, mostly for the good.

Today's struggle was getting the pain under control and I'm feeling good about it now. It's only 1am however and I hope to still be positive about it in the next update.[...]

Off the ventilator

They took her off the ventilator around 1:30 pm. That's great news but the pain came back in a big way. We switched from Fentanyl back to Dilaudid. Noon update - ICU

I'm sorry I haven't had time to type an update. A lot is happening now that she's in ICU and that's a great thing. I've been with her since 9 am.

Heather has been very helpful at getting in touch with people she knows here and some have checked in with mom overnight and have stopped by to talk to me this morning. It's almost noon as I type in case I can't send this before I finish.[...]

An update from Heather

I contacted all my nurse and respiratory friends at Methodist and lots of people are looking out for mom. I have had a nurse offer to drive to Methodist right now to check on mom even though she's not working right now bc she knows I'm in California. I have had two nurse practitioners say they'd also check. I know the doctor on for night shift and he's great.[...]

Surgical recovery

Just spoke with a recovery nurse. They're going to keep her vent in over night just to be safe. They plan to remove it in the morning.

We'll receive another update by 4:30pm ET and they'll likely give Jay and I the option to see her briefly.[...]
