Justin asked me to provide an update because he needs to try to get some sleep while mom is in surgery. I took as many notes as I could while he explained what he heard from the doctor, but he'll correct and update once she's out.[...]
After many hours of waiting for things to happen, they all came together within a few minutes this morning.
Mom's nurse came to tell us they'd take her for the TEE in a bit but a few minutes later a surgeon walked in and said he'd like to operate today. The TEE was of lesser importance but he figured there was time so I went with mom and Jay stayed in case a doctor made his rounds. (The TEE is important because the infection in her blood is growing even though they've been hitting it hard with antibiotics.)[...]
When I got to the hospital around 7pm mom woke up and was excited to see me. She gave me a long hug and wanted to know where I came from and what time I had to leave to get here. Just like mom, always caring more about others than herself. She seemed to know that I had been on a roadtrip with our family in the Soutwest before coming here.[...]
I connected with Jay around 1:00 his time for an update as he has been there all morning. Here is an update from what he knows.
They have not completely ruled out the ruptured disks. It could be that mom has a spinal infection where the disks ruptured. Mom has been asleep for the last 3 hours, which is good since she didn't get any sleep last night. Her nurse, Daniel, is concerned about the level of CO2 she's getting because she's in such a deep sleep. [...]
We've been waiting for a bed at Methodist Hospital and when one became available this evening mom was able to move. She's settling in and now has access to many more specialist who will begin running tests tomorrow (hopefully morning).[...]
