Experiencing a Whipple Procedure
Lori was diagnosed with a tumor that was found in the pancreas where it dumps enzymes into the small intestine. She will be admitted to KU Med for surgery on July 24. The surgery is known as a Whipple procedure. Part of the pancreas, the first part of the small intestine (duodenum) and common bile duct will be removed. The surgery is expected to take 5 - 8 hours and her hospital stay should be around one week. The recovery for this surgery is expected to be at least 4 - 6 weeks. Please use this page to check in for updates and to leave any notes or messages for Lori. We appreciate the thoughts and care of all.
