I hope you are all staying healthy and are fully stocked on toilet paper! I wanted to give everyone the latest update.
I will start by saying that the hospital is not allowing any visitors at this time. However, if you would like to send a little video message to Dave with some well wishes, there is a way to do that! We have an app called Marco Polo, where you can send live videos to people. So, even though there is no visiting, you can still talk to him and pretend like you are there! If you have any questions about the app, feel free to Message or text my family or myself and we would love to help you out.
They are thinking about starting him back on the 24 hour dialysis because his kidneys are just not working like they should. For now he is still doing every other day for 3 and a half to 4 hours. There was leaking in his trach that they did get under control. Which is awesome but they are still keeping a very close eye for any sign of bleeding. He is doing pressure support (breathing with very little ventilator support) every day for a while. He is determined to get that trach out of his throat! They are working him very hard with physical therapy. He stood almost on his own 3 times today! He still has his sense of humor and has shimmied for the nurses...more than once.
The main problem right now is his liver. The kidneys can't get better without the liver getting better. The liver can't get better without help. And they will not do any kind of surgery at this point because his body is not strong enough to handle it. So, we are in need of some serious prayers and good vibes! The cards are stacked against him right now but we are staying positive and Dave is a fighter!!
Everyone do a shimmie for Dave!! We look forward to hearing from everyone on Marco Polo!
All our love,
