Day 10...

Not such a great day today. More tummy problems, low energy. Even while feeling crummy though, Luke's sweet and smiley self shines through. The doctor keeps saying he should start feeling better soon, so we'll just keep believing and hoping. [...]

Day 9...

Sadly, the doctor's prediction that Luke would be feeling decent by Sunday didn't pan out. He spent most of the day in bed. His tummy was bothering him in more than one way, and he couldn't get comfy. He wasn't interested in any food or drink, despite our best efforts to come up with something that might sound appealing. I did make a run to Hartigan's Ice Cream in Evanston for quarts of his two favorite flavors, Daily Grind and Caramel Collision, and he did eat a little of each. As we were getting ready to eat dinner, he decided could go for some Trader Joe's big and chunky applesauce. They were out of it!! When I texted Luke to let him know, he said, "Oh no! I bet if you asked and told them it's for me they'll get you some from the secret stash." The staff at trader Joe's does love him, but nope, no secret applesauce stash.[...]

Ups and downs...

Luke was very happy to  be home yesterday and was feeling pretty well. He came home to lots of love and surprises from family and friends. He had a big bowl of Yard House Gardein mac n cheese for lunch. He walked Penny with a friend and her dog. For dinner, he asked for deep dish Malnati's pizza and ate 3 slices, followed by a hot fudge sundae. Yay! [...]

Day 2...

Well, the side effects started kicking in around 11:00 last night. Luke's almost ten year steak without throwing up is officially over, and he came to the conclusion that he "really doesn't like throwing up." [...]

The fight begins...

We started today in the doctor's office, referred to as in clinic. 

The doctor spent about an hour talking through everything with us and answering questions. She gave us the road map for the 54 week treatment plan and went through the next few weeks in detail. [...]
