Mom has been at Providence Mount St Vincent for 1 week today. She was moved from her initial shared room to a single occupancy room with a very nice view of the Seattle skyline. She is in good spirits and making great progress. She has been getting a little stronger each day. She has been doing speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy. She is already walking on her own for very short distances! They are now talking about changing her feeding tube to a different type so that she can go home. That portion has yet to be determined. In the meantime mom is working on her vocal/swallowing exercises to build strength and hopefully some day soon be able to eat some food![...]
Mary was discharged from the hospital yesterday 11/08. She was in the hospital for 27 days. Holy cow!
She is now at a nursing home/rehab facility in West Seattle called Providence Mount St. Vincent. Nursing homes are never fun. But this one came highly recommended for speech therapy and physical therapy. The good news is it has a fantastic view of the city, the people we have met so far have been very attentive and kind and my favorite part is that it doesn't smell of death when you walk in the front door! yeah! ;)[...]
