Long overdue update

It’s been a long time since my last post, and oddly, the time has flown by. While a welcome reprieve from the excitement of the hospital, it’s been more challenging figuring out where I ‘should be’ in this recovery process. It’s been an exercise in patience and commiting to put one foot in front of the other.

The time has been punctuated with many small victories and a handful of minor setbacks. This phase of the journey has been more inward and introspective. While I haven’t had to directly battle the leukemia for many moons, this time has been more about making peace with my fancy new (female) immune system and discovering and pushing my limits. It’s been rewarding, uncomfortable and humbling, and i’m so thankful to have had the time to do it.

These months have not been ill spent. My stamina is returning, I have entire days of feeling almost normal, and I feel more clear of vision looking into the future than I’ve felt in years. Thanks to all of your support in all manner of ways, I’m coming out of this stronger than I entered it.

To celebrate this return to health, I’m on a road trip up to WA right now! I so look forward to sharing time with dear friends and family in the coming weeks. I will do my best to see everyone, and if not this time than the next.

The other good news is my return to work in April! I get a lot back from my work and it’ll be great to feel vital, engaged and challenged (other than physically) again.

Thank you for all of your support and friendship through these most challenging times.

Much love,

Paul

Wow Paul, this is fantastic news. And you look sharp with your returning hair - I'm jealous! I know you will be a busy man when visiting Seattle but if you have any open time let me know - coffee, Greenlake, whatever. If not, good luck with getting back to work and having a fantastic Spring. And happy almost St. Patrick's Day to a fellow Irishman.
