We have been swapping in an out to be sure someone is in there with Perry at all times (aside from when the nurses need some space for cleanup). The first few hours were a bit scary as his blood pressure was fluctuating from very high to very low. His nurse, Joanna, has been watching his monitor like a hawk and increasing/decreasing meds as needed to keep his blood pressure where it needs to be. She is awesome. He is very swollen again as he has had 2 surgeries in one day.
For the past 2 hours his blood pressure has been under control ranging from the 70's - 90's without needing much medication changes (before it was every few minutes). His heart is going into A-Fib, but with all that he has gone through today/yesterday it is understandable and they are ok with that for now. He has had no urine output since the second surgery, so they are keeping an eye on that and it may require dialysis if he continues on that path. They are now taking him off propofol and trying to wake him up to see if he can respond to commands, we are praying to get something in the next few hours - a hand squeeze, eye opening, something to assess that he is ok neurologically.
It has been a restless night for all and we are hoping to get a sign of cognizance. His brothers and their significant others are coming tomorrow to be with him. Keep the prayer lines open.
