August 12, 2015 - Stepping Down from Sedative

At noon the anesthesiologist got word from the neurology team that they haven't seen any seizure activity so they are now weaning him off of the propofol again. They first dropped from 40 mcg/kg/min to 20 mcg/kg/min, and there were minimal changes to his response/reactions. After a half hour (12:30 PM ET), they dropped his level down to 10 mcg/kg/min and the goal is to wean him completely off. Michael was in the room for the first two step downs and now Ryan and Misty are in there.

Please continue praying for response, recognition and to ease Perry's sorrows.

We have established a designated fund (“Perry’s Transplant Fund”) for those of you wishing to provide financial assistance to cover Perry’s enormous and mounting medical, housing and rehabilitation expenses. We appreciate everyone’s concern and generosity in this time of great need. Any amount that you can give would be a huge support for Perry and his family. Every little bit helps!

You can make credit card donations on the "Donations" tab above.  Checks can be made payable to “Perry’s Transplant Fund” and can be sent to the following address :

As always, I simply can't tell you how valuable these updates have been for those who can't be there with Perry and Misty! God Bless ALL of you for keeping up with the journal entries! Of course, my personal prayers are constant during the day for Perry, for Misty, for his family, friends and to help guide ALL those on his Health Team to provide their healing touches and watch perry during this time ... Perrys' and our Misty texted from the ICU waiting area a few days ago her composition, an analogy that is so befitting, As follows: So many are at the amusement park with us here!!!! Get pretty much all the same emotions at an amusement park as we all are getting here. Some are having to leave the amusement park for good, some are going home to never come back, some are wanting to stay in the park beyond closing hours, some only want to ride the same over and over, some want to go on several different rides, some just want to go round and round and round, and some want to just sit on a bench to watch children and families, young and old go by hand in hand. We pray that these seemingly endless days, will one day be remembered by both you Misty and Perry, as recollections of how when you looked back in the sand, and observed only one set of footprints, those of Your Dear God, as he lifted you and your then burdens, and carried you through to days of wonderment and togetherness. Until that time walk hand in hand with Jesus, and fear not. Love You and Yours Always And In All Ways. Dad and Mom.

With Perry and Misty's consent I promised to add them to our church's prayer request and I did so both before the transplant and again after as follows: New Life Church Prayer Request Mary Brewton-Duckworth asks for prayers for her co-worker, Perry. He received a heart transplant and a double lung transplant on 7/27/15. The surgery went well but there have been complications and Perry is fighting for his life. Please pray for healing and health for Perry and for strength for his family as they go through this difficult time. Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." www.newlifenewlenox.org Prayer will get you there!! Love Mary
