Mark is making great strides - literally! The things we all do on a daily basis don't seem like a big deal - get out of bed, walk to the bathroom, get on and off the toilet, brush our teeth - but to Mark, these are huge accomplishments! He walked two hallways & back today. He can feed himself, cut his own meat and unscrew the top off a bottle. He can get up out of bed, use the toilet and brush his teeth. Tomorrow we will meet with his case worker and physical therapy to discuss coming home. I've already made it clear that he has to be able to walk into our house - it's two baby steps in and we live on one floor when the kids aren't home (Mark rarely went up the stairs before he got sick). He's making great strides to get there. These days it's not unusual for me to work 9-10 hours straight so he has to be able to fend for himself. I am confident that he will be there by Friday!
He has just come to the realization that he came very close to crossing over to the other side. For those of us praying and shouting to him to not walk toward the light (definitely don't go toward the purple light - Prince) - it was all too real! Now our prayers are prayers of thanks - we thank God for keeping him with us and we thank God for all the people (many we know and many we don't) who prayed so loudly that they couldn't be ignored! On Friday I will post a picture of Mark as he walks into our home. God bless all of you who have prayed and followed our journey.
