I met with Dr. Anderson, UW Radiation Oncologist, yesterday at my half way point. My skin is doing good, but we reviewed what to do if it becomes bothersome. I was told to take it easy now and take care of myself. The fatigue has been hitting this week, so as the weather cools down I will just naturally go in to hibernation mode. Ha!
Today I completed my 11th radiation treatment. Over the past couple weeks I have started to see the same faces in the waiting room. Today I was talking with a woman who comes with her husband every day from Monroe, WI. He has neuroblastoma --the brain cancer that John McCain is battling and that took the lives of Beau Biden and Ted Kennedy. Her husband needs to be helped in and out with a wheel chair and sometimes he takes a little more time, meaning that I sometimes wait for my turn. But that is OK, this is his second round of radiation and there is not much more they can do.
Joyce gave me a bookmark cross today that she crocheted. Sometimes when we wait, we receive the best gifts.
