Mark your calendars!

Our dear friends and family - how many of you remember at the end of March when I sent out these words, "Man, we can't wait till all this is behind us leaving only a testimony of God's great faithfulness and the amazing stories of love and kindness that carried us!"? It is hard to wrap my mind around all that has happened since that day that seems a lifetime ago!

But here we are with miracle after miracle behind us - and we are so ready to celebrate; to give a whole lot of thanksgiving and rehearse our strong confidence in the goodness that yet lies ahead! As you know, Samuel & Karen fly home about 48 hours from now. (I'll throw in here a request to keep them in your prayers - this is a huge transition! Samuel's red blood cell count was pretty low today and he received a transfusion which has helped. They are both digging deep for endurance to finish strong....for this leg of the journey.) We are counting on you to pray them home with the same peace and joy that has carried them through these130 days that Samuel has been away from home. And thank you in advance!

But the real news here is that we are having a party!

If you live in the MatSu Valley or the surrounding area and are able to attend, we would be so delighted to share a time of celebration with you. Jonathan & I will be playing party host and our home church, Pioneer Christian Fellowship, has graciously offered the use of the church building. It will be held on Saturday, August 25th starting at 1:00 PM - we are planning to share an open house/reception style taco bar and spend some time reconnecting and sharing those amazing stories and testimonies. We'd really like to set aside some time for a barn-burner worship because really our heartfelt thanks belongs to God. Samuel is part of the worship team in his church family at King's Chapel and that has been a refuge and such a huge part of the joy and strength that has sustained him. We don't have a lot of other specific plans nailed down as the Wengers are not home yet and will need a little recovery time too. But we don't want anyone who can be a part to overschedule and miss out. So, save the date for an afternoon of fun and thanksgiving! If you think you can attend or have any communications to make about this event, email [email protected].

Hope to see you there!

Wow...Thank you Rebekah! It is pretty hard to believe that this part of the journey is almost behind us. I’m not getting outta here without a bit of a fight as you mentioned. I did feel better after the transfusion and will meet with the team tomorrow. They have said that I am really boring so now I gave them something to talk about!! Thank you for all you have done from beginning to end in support of us in so many ways right in the middle of your own crazy, busy schedule! You are one amazing sister in love ( you are above the “law” on this one😊) Looking forward to seeing you and your family and everyone that can make it to the party and those that can’t, you have all been amazing as well!!

Dear Samuel & Karen, So sorry you had to have a blood transfusion right when you are getting ready to head out of Dodge, so to speak. We are believing for a wonderful reunion for you with all your family. Would love to come to Wassilla to rejoice with you that Sat., but Ron and I leave for PA on the following Mon. so don't think we could swing coming to your area, and getting back on Sun. and leave on Mon. We will just believe for the perfect time to come and visit you. We will continue to pray and believe for perfect and complete healing. Much, much love to you and your entire family.

Thank you so much Vickie. Yes, we were a bit concerned that the departure date could have been extended but the next day my blood tested much more in my normal range which is still lower than normal for the average person but as you know, I am not average :). It will still take time for those numbers to come up but as long as they don't go below "my" normal for where I am in recovery, then they are ok with that. It would be great to see you and thank you for making the effort. Hope you have a great time in PA. Karen and I really do want to head your way to thank all of you face to face for your love and support through all of this so we will see how that comes together. Safe travels and see you soon!
