Year One Celebration

This past week marks a year since Samuel's bone marrow transplant.  We spent the week in Seattle for lots of tests.  The most remarkable results are the bone marrow biopsy showing all chromosomes are normal, no scarring in his bones, and 100% of the cells in the biopsy are his brother's donor cells.  Also, his spleen was over 22 cm last year and is now 11 cm (10 cm is normal).  Some blood levels are a little low, but the Dr's aren't concerned about it.  Some of the meds, which he can now discontinue, contribute to anemia so we expect those levels to keep moving toward normal.  The Seattle long term care team would like him to be monitored monthly by our local Dr for the next year, but said we don't need to return to Seattle.  They are always available for consulting and any questions.

We are so thankful to the Lord and thankful for all of you who have prayed for us and shown tremendous love and care.

I am so happy to read this. A little of what you have been through comes to mind as I sit here. I think the thing that impresses me the most looking back at your journey is that you made such a positive change in attitude and intention BEFORE there was any physical improvement. I can remember talking to you back then and being so encouraged that you were so encouraged, in the face of what was back then an impossible - and hopeless - mountain to climb! And then, one step at a time, you moved forward. Thank you to God whose spark lit a fire in your heart that has kept you moving! And thank you to those who were used by God to take your arm and be with you as you climbed. Lots of love, and honored to be a part of your family - Jon

What beautiful news! The Lord is faithful and we are so grateful to him that his brother was allowed and wanted to be a donor. He does everything well and be his glory! Greetings from the Swiss, the Knechtli's

Such a wonderful report! What strikes me is the positive attitude before, during and after. We will keep praying for the blood levels to be where they should be and continued strength and vitality for each new day. Love to you all and wish we could hug in person!

It is hard to believe that an entire year has passed. It seemed like it was a much shorter time than that. The Lord has truly blessed your entire family and all of us also. Brock and I truly enjoyed your visit with us on the way to Seattle. We are hoping that since Seattle is no longer on your future travel path that you will find another destination to travel to that will facilitate a stop at Canby on the way.
