Tuesday, March 13

I am sitting quietly at home during these seven days, separated from the world, consoled by the spirit of my precious wife, and increasingly stirred by the energies that animated her life.

As a tribute to Sheila, I invite you to share ideas you might have regarding the creation of a suitable project  to actively perpetuate not only Sheila’s memory, but her work related to fair and affordable housing.

Specifically, if such a project were set up in memory of Sheila in an existing Jewish organization, what goals, actions, and measurable outcomes would you envision as animating  that project?

I found an organization called Tebeka that may be of interest. They provide legal aid to Ethiopian Israelis facing housing and other discrimination. They also work with training and educating law students and Ethiopian Israeli lawyers.

Lee, It is wonderful that you are thinking of a memorial for Sheila's work. Mike and I are thinking of projects. One idea is to have a yearly seminar at one of institutions with which Sheila was associated in higher education on the subjects of urban planning of affordable housing solutions and legal issues and aid to those lacking housing. We are looking into some other ideas. Jo-Ann and Mike

Dear Lee Bob and I are in Florida and can’t be with you during shiva. We have tried to connect with you by phone but, unfortunately, we weren’t even able to leave a voice message. We will continue to try but I wanted you to know that you are in our thoughts. Shabbat Shalom Harriet
