Another Step of our Journey

Well the last 6 weeks have flown by ... at times. And then at others, moved at a snail's pace. But the wait has been worth it. My first post radiation check up appointment was February 15th with my Radiologist in KC. Other than a small area of my incision that is taking its sweet time healing,  Dr. Coster settled my nerves by saying he was pleased with my tolerance of the radiation.  When I asked when I can say I am cured of cancer, he said that unfortunately he will not say I am 100% cured.  Statistically he rates my case as 90+% of it not returning. I can live with that and live is the operative word!

We then had my 1st post surgery appointment with my surgeon, Dr. Larson at another KU campus. She has a warm, positive way about her that always puts me at ease.  She was encouraged with my outcome as well.  So I feel as though the day was a complete success and indeed a day to start to celebrate!

The KU doctors have not turned me loose yet. I will meet with all three of my cancer doctors (2 oncologists and a surgeon) for years. For right now I will meet with them every 6 months to monitor that no cancer returns. I have every confidence that if it does rear it's ugly head I will beat it with the wonderful team (and God) who I have on my side!

We have learned so much along this journey--more than we every wanted to know about cancer!  But we have also learned valuable lessons:

1)  Enjoy and relish each day, each moment.

2) Travel when you can.

3) ALWAYS be thankful.  And we are most thankful for each and every one of you.

I know I sound like a broken record but Ladies, please be mindful of getting a 3D mammogram each and every year. PLEASE don't put off getting any mammogram, even for a year.

3 John 1:2-- "Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul."

Hugs and love to all of you.

Thank you for sharing the updates! We will continue to pray! Thank you for praying for me and following God's nudge to say hello and check in. You are such a blessing to others. In the thick of your battle - you find time for others. I know you will be (and are) richly blessed. Love you!
