With great sadness, Sister Celine's biological and SNJM sisters received an update from the doctors that the pneumonia that had struck Sister Celine so suddenly had caused irreparable damage to Sister's heart and brain.

At 3:00 on Tuesday, December 19, Sisters gathered in Celine's room.  We prayed and sang, and her dear friend, Father Stan Mulnar anointed her - as did each of us.

Following Celine's wishes, life-sustaining measures were suspended. She is receiving pain medication, and her SNJM Sisters remain by her side as we wait for God to call her home.

We are immensely saddened but will help to escort Sister Celine prayerfully to her final destination as she celebrates her first Christmas in Heaven. Her labors have been intense and wide spread and she is deserving of Eternal rest and peace. Grateful for her friendship as an HNA Classmate of my Sister - Patti (Switter) McCormack, RIP. I am grateful for her years of friendship to me and my family, and particularly happy we had the opportunity to attend a Spokane Jazz Orchestra Christmas show earlier this month, featuring my daughter Julia as soloist. Celine has been one of Julia’s greatest fans for years. As always, I received one of her beautiful “thank you” notes shortly after. What a wonderful human being.

Celine, I am with you, your family and all the snjm sisters in prayer as you make your final journey. This is such a shock but it is a reminder we know not the day or the hour when our life's is done and we answer our real calling. My memories of visits are etched in my mind especially the one in October. Thank for all you have done and for being you, a wonderful example since college days.

As a childhood friend, neighbor and classmate for 12 years at HNA Seattle, I was shocked to hear the news of Sr. Celine’s sudden illness. She was always such an outstanding example of a leader and a friend to all she knew. We love you Celine. May God be with you, now and always.
