Heaven for Christmas

Our dear Sister Celine went home to heaven for Christmas at 11:20 am this morning. We rejoice with her as she is now enjoying the fullness of life with our God in heaven. We are sure she will continue to intercede for us and for all of her family and friends whom she held so dear over the years.

We will keep you posted about the arrangements for Celine's funeral.

May she rest in peace.

I will treasure her memory along with that of having spent some time with her last night, on Christmas Eve, when I had the chance to read her “The Night Before Christmas” and to tell her how much I loved her, one last time.

She was one in a million, and a true friend to our family. We all loved her and will miss her, yet there is solace in knowing she entered heaven on Christmas! She always was an angel!

I treasured my friendship with Sr. Celine...I first met her when I was 19, and her love and support of me and everyone she knew was truly a gift I will always hold as one of the lovely gifts in my life. Singing to her 2 nights ago I could feel the Holy presence all around this remarkable and selfless woman. Be at peace dear you are an angel in heaven. Thank you for your love and countless contributions to making the world a more beautiful place, and for the special times we shared.

Our hearts are heavy with sadness as we have received word of our beloved friend,Sister Celine's passing on Christmas Day. God has received a new angel in heaven and we are missing our angel, Celine, being with us. Our friendship began in 1974 @Holy Rosary school in Edmonds , as she was the 1st grade teacher for our daughter, Kristi. Throughout the years she has been a loving, inspiration to our whole family. Her wonderful notes and visits will be missed. We love you, Sister Celine , and will cherish our last visit and the beautiful message we received from a couple of days before you were hospitalized . Rest in Peace. Sandy and Ernie Oosterveen and family

I had the pleasure of being in Sister Celine’s first grade class at Holy Rosary in 1974. She was always my favorite teacher and over the years I thought it was so special to have a wonderful, lasting relationship with her. She always had a smile on her face and a huge hug to give. She has been a very special friend to my family and I will be forever grateful for that. My heart is heavy knowing that she has passed, but she has always had impeccable timing and it seems right that she pass on the day of Jesus’ birth. I know she will continue to watch over us and in those moments of need be there to talk to. May God continue to bless you, Sister Celine. Know you are always in my heart and loved.

Sister Celine was a true angel here on earth. She was literally responsible for saving my life, and she provided so much love and comfort to my family. Her loss is felt most keenly, but we simultaneously rejoice that she has been called home to God. May she be surrounded by the same love and light that she always created here for us. Tracy Healy

Thank you Sister Celine for your life and service to others and thus to Jesus our Savior ("Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." - Matthew 25:40) . I first met you in 1987 at the Commons at Fort Wright when the Sisters hosted a couple of dozen Japanese high school students for a summer English program. Ed Tsutakwa, your good friend, was involved with that as well. Your memories will always remain with us at Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute.
